Katie has been an athlete all of her life and rowed throughout high school and college in the eight seat (or commonly known as stroke seat in rowing) position.
The relationship between eight seat (or stroke seat) and the coxswain is one of mutual trust and communication. The stroke seat relies on the coxswain to guide the crew, provide feedback, monitor the competition, and keep them motivated. In turn, the coxswain relies on the stroke seat to execute the rowing rhythm and help translate their instructions to the rest of the crew.
Effective communication and synchronization between the stroke seat and the coxswain are critical for a successful rowing team, as they work together to optimize the boat's performance and competitive success.
In business, the partnership and synchronization between the business owner (or visionary) and 2nd in command (integrator) is similar to the eight seat and coxswain in the sport of rowing. The business owner has an eye on the competition and outlines the business plan while the eight seat executes the race plan with the crew following and supporting through the whole race.

Katie's management operation system is among the most reliable philosophies and assets I've worked within in my career.
She enters a situation and verifies Problem or the Desired State matches up with what she has been told. She then collects data and constructs solutions incorporating feasibility, probability and human factors - because if the best solution can't work with the team and resources in place, it's not the best solution. Katie puts a premium on building a consensus so that operationally her teams are aligned, enthusiastic and subscribed to believe in the strategy. She's as credible and determined as she is pleasant and engaging; sometimes expertise and elite standards come at a cost to organizational culture, but Katie has a genuine charm which brings a harmonizing element to coalition-building. If she's available, you add her to your team before someone else does.
I had the privilege of working with Katie, and I can confidently say that she played an instrumental role in helping me see the true vision for both myself and my company. Her expertise and dedication were unmatched.
Katie not only assisted in implementing and running the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) for our company but also executed the M&A strategy that we had set forth. Her commitment to excellence and her deep understanding of the business landscape allowed us to fully reap the benefits of our strategies, ultimately helping us achieve our goal of maximizing returns through acquisitions. She worked closely with employees and helped transform the culture of mutual respect and continuous improvement.
Katie was more than just a professional colleague; she was a trusted confidant. I knew I could rely on her to execute whatever I put forth with precision and efficiency. Her unwavering support and guidance made a significant difference in the success of our company.
I was fortunate to work with Katie for over ten years at AFCPE, a national nonprofit association. She quickly became my trusted partner in the finance and operations of our organization and helped lead the organization to financial health and sustainability. Katie advanced the professionalism of the organization through her diligence and constant focus on improvement and efficiency. Under her guidance and direction, the organization streamlined systems and processes, implemented essential policies to minimize liability and risk, and recommended improvements to our employee benefits offering. Katie is a well-respected leader, always modeling our core values of integrity, teamwork, and growth. With her leadership experience, nonprofit and association knowledge, and unmatched attention to detail and strong work ethic, she is a true asset to any team!
